7 Young Nigerian Models Making Waves Outside The Country


People are considering modelling as full-time careers and that is amazing. With pioneer black models like Ophelia DeVore, Iman Abdulmajid and a host of others setting the trend for acceptability of black people as models, global brands have thought to use people of color for projects and runway shoots to reach out to a wider range of people amidst other reasons.

There are some young Nigerian models paving the way and making a name for themselves and the country in the long run by the tremendous work they’ve been doing outside the shores of Nigeria. We thought to celebrate a few of them who are our favorites!

1. Victor Ndigwe

Victor Ndigwe won the Aquafina Elite Model Look competition in Nigeria in 2014 and has been making giant strides ever since then. He was named as one of the new models to look out for by Vogue and has walked for brands like Hermès, Balmain and Kenzo.

2. Nneoma Anosike

Nneoma Anosike’s career has been on the rise since the young model won the Aquafina Elite Model Look Nigeria back in 2013. She is currently signed to Ford Models.

3. Broderick Hunter

Broderick is a Nigerian actor and model who played the love interest in Ciara’s video to ‘Sorry’. He has been featured on GQ, Vogue and has been the face of Ralph Lauren

4. Mayowa Nicholas

Mayowa Nicholas won the Aquafina Elite Model Look alongside Victor Ndigwe and has since modelled for Balmain, Calvin Klein and Ralph and Russo to mention but a few.

5. Harry Uzoka

Harry Uzoka is signed to Premier Model Management has covered the Spring/Summer 2014 cover of Hunger magazine and walked for Ashish, Margeret Howell,and Alexander McQueen during London Fashion Week.

6. TY Ogunkoya

Akintayo Ogunkoya is most definitely not a new name in the business of modelling and has been featured on the pages of international magazines like Vogue Homme and fashion campaigns for top designers like Galliano, DKNY, Paul Smith and Kenneth Cole

7. Chuck Achike

This blue eyed blonde haired boy was born in London and has been featured in the pages of Live magazine amongst others. He has also filmed a commercial for Virgin Media and walked at the Christopher Shannon S/S 14 runway show.
