Nigeria lost a veteran actress, Bukky Ajayi, who died at the age of 82. Here, we bring you 8 things you didn’t know about the late screen-diva.

1. She is a devout Muslim even though she was born a christian. She converted to Islam in the early eighties and chose the name Zainab.

2. She got a government scholarship which enabled her to study in England. She was abroad for six years.


3. When she left England and came back to Nigeria, she worked with the Nigeria Television Authority(NTA) as a presentation assistant in 1966 after which she became a presenter and then a news reader.

4. She acted in the old, popular television series, ‘Village Headmaster’ in the 70s, and she later got a role in Amaka Igwe’s ‘Checkmate.

5. She has featured in so many home videos that she has lost count.Shooting of international film ‘Critical Assignment’ in South Africa, is one of the events of her life that she will never forget.
