Praise songs continue, as praise-singers chant mantra in honour of the new Oba of Ife and the dignitaries that have come to grace the occasion. Prominent in the chant is “Jagaban” a nickname that has been accredited to the APC chieftain, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

With a rousing ovation the governor ends his speech and beautiful music erupts, even as the smiling Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi stands to greet his highly distinguished guests with the staff of office in his hands.

The hall is quiet as the new king addresses the people of Ife and indeed the entire nation.
“I will do my best to promote social values, moral values and cultural values,” the new monarch has promised.
