How Kebbi State Government Publicly Disregarded First Wife, Aisha Bagudu As State’s First Lady

A mild drama recently occurred on Twitter leading to a public revelation that the popular Aisha Bagudu isn’t recognized as first lady.  Recently, one of the national dailies – Daily Trust referred to Aisha Bagudu as the First Lady of Kebbi State.

Quote
“Kebbi’s First lady, Aisha Bagudu spotted at daughter’s edible fair”

the newspaper tweeted.

This prompted the response of the Kebbi State government via Twitter. The handler advised the newspaper to replace Aisha Bagudu’s name with that of Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu.

How Lagos Saved N4.5bn From Non-sponsorship Of Pilgrimages

The Lagos State Government says it has saved a total of N4.5billion in the last three years since it stopped funding pilgrimages.

According to it, the feat was recorded following the decision of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to stop the sponsorship of religious journeys to Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr Abdulhakeem Abdullateef, revealed this on Monday in Ikeja at the annual Ministerial Press Briefing to mark the third year in office of the governor.

“Yearly in the past, before the present administration came on board, the state government spent an average of N1.5billion to sponsor people to pilgrimage free of charge,” he said in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Habib Aruna.

“But since Governor Ambode decided to stop the sponsorship of pilgrimage, we have saved N4.5billion in the last three years and the governor has not changed his mind with regard to sponsorship of pilgrimages.”

The commissioner, however, said the state government would provide for the welfare of the pilgrims, as well as support them with medical tips and clerics who would guide them to ensure that they are focused on the spiritual objectives of the pilgrimage and not something else.

He said funds saved from the development have since been diverted into the construction of roads and other amenities to make life easier for residents.

Abdullateef further reeled out the achievements of the ministry in the last one year.

He noted that government was able to record high level of unprecedented peace and the harmonious relationship among diverse groups through its deliberate policies.

The commissioner added that a total of 13,000 religious institutions were registered in the period under review and asked others to register with the government as it was at no cost to them.

Afrobeat Artiste, Seun Kuti, Unveils New Album “Black Times”

Afrobeat artiste Seun Kuti has announced a new album, “Black Times“.

According to him, “Black Times is a true reflection of my political and social beliefs; it is also dear to my heart because for the first time ever I wanted to own my masters, so I personally invested my funds in it. That gave me the opportunity to say the things I wanted to say”.

The album, which is the 35-year-old musician’s 5th body of work, was released under Strut Records and features a selected line-up of stars including the iconic guitarist Carlos Santana, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and vocalist Nai Palm of future-soul quartet “Hiatus Kaiyote”.

Seun Kuti says:

More than ever I am convinced of the mission and purpose of our music. Here I’m giving honour to my parents and to every revolutionary who has made a difference, many of them from before I was born. I wrote this album from a place of calm and love, I was thinking, ‘What if Africa had a philosopher king who was also a musician, who loved Alkebulan with all his heart? What sort of album would he make? What would he tell his people today?’ Too many African rulers do not have the country’s best interests at heart. Too many people in Africa and the West have sunk or are sinking into complacency. Black Times is an album for anybody who believes in change and understands the duty we have to rise up and come together. The system says we’re different. But the struggle makes us one.

Former Super Eagles Star, Femi Opabunmi Reveals How He Became Blind

There is a photo of Femi Opabunmi trying to mark David Beckham in what look liked a set-piece situation during Nigeria’s goalless draw against England in a group game at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
That photo defined the rapid rise of the then 17–year-old who a year earlier had just had his first experience at an international competition.

A 16-year-old Opabunmi finished the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Trinidad and Tobago with five goals to take the Silver Shoe as the second highest goalscorer and the Bronze Ball as the third best player of the tournament.
Huge things were expected from the left-footer who reportedly caught the attention of the likes of Manchester United and Lyon.
At 17 the next year, he was part of the Super Eagles to the 2002 FIFA World Cup and played that group game against England.
Blindness strikes
Although he never hit the heights expected of him, Opabunmi was enjoying a steady football career until tragedy struck in 2006.
What happened next is a story that has been well told.
“I just woke up one day and I just saw the cloud, I was not seeing well,”  the former Super Eagles player told BBC Pidgin English channel.
“We went to the specialist and checked the eye, we went from one place to another before my career went.
“I can’t play professional football again, because of my eyes, but I have to keep myself fit because it is the game I love very much with all my life.”

Opabunmi became blind in the right eye, a condition that mysteriously could not be cured by the best medical practices.

At that time, he had spent four years at Grasshopper in Switzerland before stints at Hapoel Be’er Sheva F.C in Israel and Niort in France.
He was in Niort when the eye problem struck.

Quote
“When I went to Grasshopper, I signed a four-year contract. After my stint at Grasshopper, I went to Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Israel, I played just six to eight months, then I crossed to France. I played in France (Niort FC) for like one season when my eye problem started,” he further said.
“I saw a doctor in France for Porche, the doctor said it was a case of glaucoma. They said my case was complicated and that they don’t understand everything.”
With no solution from the doctors in France, Opabunmi returned to Nigeria to seek traditional help.
“I came down to Nigeria and started going from one place to place. Native doctor, anybody, I went there,” he said.
“This eye took me to so many places they don’t expect to see me there. The problem got worse and worse again.”
Unable to continue his football career in Europe, Opabunmi tried out with Enyimba but his right blind eye limited him.
“In 2007, I came to Enyimba to see if I can play with one blind, to manage. But I could not play with the blind eye,”

he said.
These days, Opabunmi resides in Ibadan with his wife and three children at his at his bungalow, the only property he owns, the only thing remaining after he sold everything.

25-yr-old Nigerian Man Becomes Africa’s first PhD holder in National Security Strategy In The UK

A 25-year-old U.K based Nigerian man and Twitter @olamideDIY just achieved a great feat of becoming Africa’s first PhD holder in National Security Strategy.

Sharing the amazing news on his Twitter page, he wrote;

Aii, Viva passed! Officially Dr. Olamide Samuel, PhD, MA, BSc. I have a few typos to correct and I’m done!! First African PhD holder in National Security Strategy. I’m 25 so I got energy

This is coming few months after 18-year old Nkechinyere Chidi-Ogbolu made history as the youngest person to graduate from Howard University.

He tweeted;

Aii, Viva passed! Officially Dr. Olamide Samuel, PhD, MA, BSc. I have a few typos to correct and I’m done!! First African PhD holder in National Security Strategy. I’m 25 so I got energy 😁

#LazyNigerianYouths I have 4 hustles: Academia, Research, Art and Music production/Sound engineering. But I’m veeery lazy compared to a former military dictator that couldn’t even build himself an ICU in the Villa

Since this is how me and other #LazyNigerianYouths drain Nigeria’s resources and waste time, I guess Buhari is right 🤔

Nkechinyere graduated summa cum laude from Howard University with a degree in chemical engineering, and she’s starting her Ph.D. program at the University of California-Davis after summer.

She will be studying biomedical engineering with a focus on creating and discovering new medicines.

Nkechinyere told USA Today that she has always been the youngest person in her classes as she finished high school at 14, skipped 5th grade and attended an accelerated high school.

Leaving her parents in Nigeria at such age was difficult, but she had the support of some of her family members who lived not far away from her in America, which she credits for her ability to cope with her new surroundings.

“I spoke to my mom almost every day on the phone — for over an hour almost every time. My dad and I talked really often too. Talking to them definitely helped sometimes when things were overwhelming. My support system was a very big part of why I was able to stay very grounded during the whole journey.”

She’s also working on a book, titled, “Tales of an Uber Minor in College.”

Although she says she’s super busy, she sets time aside for watching movies, especially Korean ones, and she likes to sing and do karaoke.

On her advice for teens like her, she said,

“Don’t limit yourself because you think you can’t do it or because no one you know had done it. You can always be the exception to the rule and end up being exceptional.”

Launching of my beauty oil collection April23rd 😉(my birthday)

Hey lovelies, I am so glad you’ve asked repeatedly to know more about @bambeautyoiils in detail. The simple answer is that #BamBeautyOil is carrot seed based and we’ve ensured that ours is a hundred percent organic product.
@bambeautyoiils is carrot seed based because carrot seed oil is high in antioxidants, it’s a natural for any anti-aging skin formula. These components can help protect your skin from environmental stressors.

What’s magical about @bambeautyoiils, however, is its ability to rejuvenate the look and feel of your skin. Scientists think this has something to do with the “carotol,” a primary component found in carrot seed oil. The oil also has moisturizing vitamin E and protective vitamin C, which work together to help bring new life to skin. In fact, @bambeautyoiils is set to gain a reputation for helping with sensitive skin too.

It is also this ability that makes @bambeautyoiils a great anti-aging formula, as well. It can help firm and tone your look.

If you have dry or oily skin, you don’t have to worry—like many natural oils, @bambeautyoiils has the ability to balance both! It gives skin just enough moisture without clogging pores, making it perfect for all skin types.

In fact, anyone with dull, lifeless skin should definitely look to purchase and use @bambeautyoiils. It’s abilities to rejuvenate and protect will have you looking more lively in no time. Annmarie.

Nigeria’s Most Bitter Woman

Who is Nigeria’s Most Bitter Woman?
We asked the Google Image search engine for this question and you won’t believe what we found.

But first, congratulations again to Miracle Ikechukwu Igbokwe (aka Miracle in the house) for winning the just concluded Big Brother Nigeria: Double Wahala edition.

The show finished yesterday, Sunday, 22nd April 2018 with Miracle winning the coveted price of 25 million naira, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that costs N12 million, a holiday trip for two, full home appliances and other prizes.

Amidst the whole reality drama and intrigue of passion, emotion and fun games of 85 days, Cynthia Nwadiora, also known as CeeC, stands out with her controversial personality.

She was unmistakably confrontational and not afraid to express herself, just exactly as she feels, whenever she feels like. One of such topical moments went down when she adapted her cultural Efik attire and when she lashed out on Tobi with abuses that warranted a big warning from Big Brother.

She has taken her personality to a large extent, that has so reflected in her online image.

If you do a random Google search of the following phrases: ‘Nigeria’s Most Bitter Woman’ and ‘Bitter Nigeria Woman’, you will be surprised of the result.

Take a look:

Is Cynthia Nwadiora this better in real life or is it a show she put up for the #BBNaija show?
