Just Now: Jimoh Ibrahim Sacked, Appeal Court Announces Eyitayo Jegede As PDP Governorship Candidate

An internal crisis in the PDP led to the emergence od two factions, with each faction presenting a candidate. The Appeal court has delivered judgment in a suit to determine the Ondo state governorship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) just days before the Governorship elections in the state.

One faction produced Jimoh Ibrahim as its flagbearer while the other chose Eyitayo Jegede as flagbearer.  A Supreme Court ruling on Tuesday ordered the lower court to continue hearing the matter having dismissed an application filed by a factional leader of the PDP in Ondo State, Biyi Poroye, who is of Mr. Ibrahim’s faction.

The Appeal court today ruled that Eyitayo Jegede is the legitimate candidate of the PDP for the elections. More details soon.
