Places To Go on Valentine’s Day

Have you started planning yet? No escaping it this year and no forming busy because Valentine’s Day is close and you don’t have the luxury of 2015 when one minute, we thought elections would hold on the day – so no movement – and then the next minute, it was moved until six weeks later which made things a lot quieter. This year, no excuse of election or ordering flowers or cake for deliver to offices and then forming busy because it is a week day! Hehehe! This year, it is on a Sunday; so if you haven’t started planning, start now!

I apologize in advance because I have gone in search of lovely places you can have a romantic lunch or dinner with your spouse, significant other, lover, friend, or sister (yep, Valentine isn’t just a couples affair). Most of them aren’t cheap but come on now, unless of course you want to say your partner, friend or family is cheap and undeserving of such “largesse”? I didn’t think so! , spend the money, let them chop your money and show them how much your care!

Four Points by Sheraton

Apparently, Four Points by Sheraton at Oniru has a valentine package this year that includes one room with buffet dinner and breakfast for two for N50,000 which I think is priced well. So if you can afford to get away for one day and have a short romantic stay, this might be one for you. Also, there is a romantic buffet dinner on Saturday 13th February 2016 or buffet brunch on Feb 14th 2016 t 7.00pm & 12noon respectively for 13,000 per person or 25,000 per couple

I found that they also have a package in their spa section as well and part of that package includes one 45 minutes Chocolate body mask that is sounding totally scrumptious even though not for the mouth

Chef Fregz’s “Love at Fregz Table”

This young talented Le Cordon Bleu trained chef has interesting plans for couples this Valentine! Love at Fregz Table has menu items such as Love Me Sea Deep, Love is King, This Fish is Queen, Love me Jeje and a few other interesting names. So if you would like to treat your spouse to Chef Fregz’s “banquet” and you would like to try meals such confit snapper, corn puree, grilled plantain, salad and pan jus or guinea fowl, sweet potato puree, chips, charred broccoli, port fennel reduction or desserts such as warm carrot cake, scent leaf syrup, agbalumo gelato with speculoos, then plan to treat your spouse or friend to Chef Fregz Banquet but I must warn you that this six course dinner holding at The Arena in Dream Plaza, Bishop Aboyade Cole on Valentine’s Day does not come cheap o! N40,000 per couple! But that someone special is worth it abi?

The Blowfish Hotel

The Blowfish Hotel on Oju Olobun Street, Victoria Island has a special romantic Valentine’s treat planned which includes welcome drinks, a three course dinner with a complimentary bottle of wine. The dinner is priced at N18,000 per person. They also have an accommodation package for two with complimentary breakfast valid for stays from the 12th to 14th February

Sheraton Lagos

Sheraton on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja has a number of activities going on this Valentine’s from the valentine room package with the full American breakfast for 2 with wine to the Valentine’s Day brunch which includes wine on arrival, all you can eat buffet, intimate “photo booth”, live music amongst other things. At 8500 per person, this is an affordable and welcome option for Valentine’s Day. There is also a dinner option starting at 7pm for 11,000 per person. Their bakery will be featuring valentine pastries and bakes from the 10th to the 14th of February as well.

Now relax, let your mind come down small. Apart from these Valentine specials going on, there are other ways to have a fun day out like going to your favorite restaurant or any  other restaurant you’ve always wanted to visit. Many restaurant will have something going on for sure.

If you are on a budget (aren’t we all as things are very critical at the moment and the answer to every question about why there is no money at this time is always “it’s the economy”), you can still have a fun day in or out of the house with this few tips

– Get a personal cook or chef (trust me, they aren’t as pricey as you think and you can get one for as little as 5000) for the day and you both can put your feet up with a good movie and lovely music. For extra treats, grab a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate or cookies from the store or order a cake or cupcakes to be delivered at home

– Head to the beach with a small basket of goodies and drinks. You can stop by to get pastries, snack, sandwiches or other finger foods on your way to the beach so they stay fresh.

– Go see a good movie and stop by at the ice cream parlor right after….

– Order food to be delivered at home, fill up your fridge and cuddle up in your bedroom all day watching movies back to back.
