Profile of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri – State minister Agriculture and Rural Development

Born 3rd March, 1967, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri from Bayelsa State, studied law at the University of Port-Harcourt in 1994 and was called to the Bar in 1995.

He has a Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) from Lead Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.
Senator Lokpobiri began his political career at the state level, where he represented Ekeremor Constituency II and was elected Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of a$$embly in 1999.
From 2003 to 2007, Senator Lokpobiri was a Principal Legal Director at Lokpobiri and Co (Legal Practitioners and Consultants) and also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
Senator Lokpobiri represented Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 6th and 7th National a$$embly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where he chaired various committees including Committee on Water Resources, Sports and Social Development and Ad-Hoc Committee on the Investigation of the Transportation Sector.
