Newly admitted students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, North Eastern Nigeria are receiving lectures on the floor in an overcrowded lecture theatre, it was gathered.
The 100 level students were seen receiving lectures on the floor, which some people described as a usual occurrence in the university. According to Usman Adamu, a resident of the area, lecture theatre for newly admitted students offering Maths 111 is always over crowded because many newly admitted students take such courses in the first year.
“The reason why our graduates are not educated is because of this kind of horrible experiences. Could you imagine that in our universities today, students still received lectures on the floor. Something needs to be done urgently,” Thomas Benard Lass said.
A graduate of the university, Tony AG Khah said that Maths 111 has always had a large class with overcrowded students adding that, “This situation was not as bad as this. It wasn’t this bad. Oh ATBU, my dear alma mater,” Khah wrote in a Facebook page. The management of the university could not respond at the time of filing this report.
