Today In Nigerian History; 1st June


On this day in 2014, a bomb was set off at a football field in Mubi, Adamawa State, Nigeria which killed at least forty people.

Nineteen others were said to have been injured in the attack and according to a police officer, the bomb exploded at around 18:30 local time at the pitch in Mubi’s Kaban area. It targeted fans who were trying to leave the field after watching a local club match.

Mubi, which is located in Adamawa state, one of three in the northeast which has been under a state of emergency for more than a year has previously witnessed attacks by Boko Haram Islamists.
