Okro soup isn’t really owned by Yoruba’s but it’s safe to say Yoruba’s eat it more than any tribe in Nigeria. The difference between Yoruba and Igbo cooked okro is that the Igbo’s cook their with palmoil and sometimes beef/fish stock while Yoruba’s make their plain or they combine it with another soup like Ogbonno.

If a foreigner saw we Nigerians eat Okro soup they’d squint and some might even puke.. Why? because the soup is actually very slimy. An average Nigerian won’t relate the word slimy to the the soup because we were born eating it so it seems normal to us.
