Governor Ayodele Fayose is a politician who is always ready to amaze not only people of Ekiti state but all Nigerians.
Quite often Fayose is being strongly criticized for his controversial statements and surprising actions. But he describes himself as the ‘governor of uncommon style’ and keeps on with his uncommon way of doing things.
As the old year comes to an end and the New Year unfolds, let’s recall some events and the governor’s actions that were actively discussed in 2015.
1. Fayose is a man who is not ashamed to come down to the level of the common man, despite being a governor. Once he was spotted with some of his aides eating amala (a local delicacy) at a local restaurant in Ajilosun in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

2. Shortly after attending the groundbreaking ceremony of Elegberun ultra modern market, the governor was seen dancing with local people at the Ikere area of the state.

3. On August 12, on his way from Akure, the governor had a stopover at Elegberun Market in Ikere Ekiti. He not only had a chance to look at the construction work going on in the market, but took time to buy some soup ingredients.

4. On August 28, Fayose appointed a 72-year-old carpenter Olatunde Afolayan as the caretaker chairman of Moba local government.
Explaining his surprising decision, the governor said: “A governor of uncommon style will always get uncommon victories. I Will therefore keep on with my uncommon ways of doing things.”
5. There was a mild drama in Ekiti state, when Fayose lurked-around the state secretariat to fish-out perpetual late comers.

6. Marking his first year in office, Fayose held an interactive session with the physically challenged people at the governor’s office. During the meeting, he provided automatic employment to 10 physically challenged people and presented 35 wheelchairs.

The employment opportunities will cut across different categories of people, including those with sight challenges, albinos and the deaf and dumb.
7. Once a controversial Ekiti state governor was spotted checking the licenses of motorists in Ekiti state.
