The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) will, today in Abuja, take a final decision on whether to proceed on strike over unresolved issues with the federal government or not.
The final decision to commence the nationwide strike would be reached at a meeting of the union.
However, the decision was disclosed in a statement signed on August 12 by the ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, after a series of discussions with the government.
Ogunyemi explained that the government has failed to fully implement the 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement and the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding.
He added that related demands made by the union have not been addressed, which is why they have resolved to embark on a “total, comprehensive and indefinite strike” from Sunday, August 13, 2017.
