British-Nigerian Actor, John Boyega Wins First BAFTA Award

23-year-old Nigerian-British actor John Boyega has won the EE Rising Star award at the 69th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAS) .

At the awards ceremony which held on Sunday night at the Royal Opera House in London, Boyega was honoured for his major breakout role in the 2015 film –Star Wars: The Force Awakens.


Born to Nigerian parents, Boyega played Ugwu, the houseboy in historical fiction drama film –Half of a Yellow Sun (2013).

Boyega has also appeared in four episodes of the television series 24: Live Another Day amongst others.
