American microblogging site, Twitter has ordered all its employees worldwide to work from home until when it becomes safe to work from the office.
The company announced the mandate in a move to help curtail the rapid spread of the coronavirus.
Last week, the organization already announced that they “strongly encouraged” its employees to work from home, but have now moved to make it a compulsory step for its huge workforce all over the globe.
According to Twitter, they will cover expenses for their workers setting up a home office and also reimburse parents in their workforce who will pay more for their children daycare services.
Twitter also announced that vendors, contractors and hourly workers who are not able to keep on performing their routine duties at home will continue to be paid.
Other big tech companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple have advised their employees in some regions to work from home, but Twitter mandating its about 4900 employees from all over the world to work from home is still the most extreme step taken in response to the coronavirus problems.
