Gernot Rohr

Genor Rohr says he is not bothered about the bad pitch that Nigeria will emerge victorious Zambia coach, Wedson Nyirenda has refused to admit that the Super Eagles are tough opponents and believes his team will get the needed result in Ndoli.

Wedson Nyirenda says Super Eagles are like every other opponent they have played with. The Zambian coach believes they can beat the Nigerian team with the home advantage they have.

The Chipolopolo will take on the Nigerian national team on Sunday, October 9, at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier and Nyirenda was quick to play down the prowess of the West African nation.

“Nigeria is like every other team we have played but we are working hard and are confident we would get the result. “We just have to qualify. I have always said even if we are building the team, we have to qualify for the World Cup for the first time. “The arrival of professionals has boosted morale in the team, we are looking good with the brotherliness I am seeing in the team. We are going to maintain Rainford Kalaba as captain,” Nyirenda said.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles technical adviser Genor Rohr is confident his team will get the result in Zambia and he is not bothered at the pitch in Ndoli. Rohr said: “We go to Zambia to win and (knowing) it will be difficult because Zambia have a good team and like the three other teams in our group, any one of us could qualify for the World Cup.

“Our scouts watched them against Kenya (in an Afcon qualifier last month) and also noticed that the pitch in Ndola is not good, but it will be the same for both teams.” Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr dishing out instructions to the players.

The Super Eagles will be without Victor Moses, Isaac Success and Leon Balogun because of injuries but the star studded side have Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Troost Ekong to fill in the void. Nigeria will travel to Zambia on Saturday, October 8, and will have one more training session in the evening of same day at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium before the cracker.

Other countries in CAF qualifying Group B are Algeria and Cameroon as the group has been tagged ‘group of death’.
