Kano State Governor Paid N20 Million To Free 500 Prisoners

The Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has officially paid N20 million – the fine to secure the freedom of 500 prisoners, who were jailed for committing minor crimes in several prisons within Kano.
Gov. Ganduje who made the gesture to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, said the inmates’ release would help to decongest the crowded prisons. The governor also reportedly gifted each with N3000 transportation fee to help them get to their various destinations.
