Lola Omolola started the ‘Female IN’ group two years ago, her vision is to create a safe space for Nigerian women to talk about anything without societal judgement. The secret Facebook group has grown to have more than a million members sharing their stories and providing support to one another.
On behalf of the community, Lola will be having a meeting with the former US president and his wife, the Obamas, and other world leaders on proffering solutions to common problems.
Lola made this known on her Facebook page.
She wrote,
Hi dear sisters and friends:
I am so thrilled to tell you I have been invited to join President and Mrs. Obama in Chicago for the first ever Obama Summit on behalf of FIN as a meaningful community on Facebook.
The Obama Foundation has invited world leaders and civic leaders from around the world to come together to exchange ideas and explore creative solutions to common problems.
I will be speaking about the use of “Social Media for Social Good”.
This is yet another proof that our work to put an end to our culture of silence, is making a real difference in our world. And our effort is breaking traditional barriers to meaningful bonding.
Whenever we create an atmosphere that’s welcoming for a woman to speak her truth, we access the power of bringing our world closer together.
For FINsters: You should be proud of what you are each doing to advance our sisters’ voices. Despite all odds, I sure am proud of how far we have all come. Together!
And together, we are on our way to do more.
