The belief that the accomplishments of a man are invaluable assets when they are made accessible to fellow beings has characterized the journey of life of Barrister Francis Adeyemi Alao. A thorough-bred financial expert got himself fully prepared for service to mankind by opting to study Law in the University. And in 1986 and 1987, Barrister Adeyemi Alao had been certified to practice Law. He also earned his Master of Science degree in Banking and Finance in October 1991 from the University of Ibadan.
Bar. Alao’s exceptional dedication to duties endeared him to his employer at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria where he worked in various capacities ranging from general administration, banking to mortgage operations. He was at one-time the General Secretary of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks and Financial Institutions (domestic Unit).
He left the public service in September 1991 to join Home Foundation Savings & Loans – one of the first set of licensed mortgage institutions in Nigeria – as the pioneer Head of Administration. He subsequently joined Continental Mortgage Finance Limited as the pioneer Head of Operations.
In April 1993, he was appointed as the pioneer Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Mortgage Finance Limited, a position he occupied until 1996 when he went into legal practice.
An alumnus of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and a Chartered Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, Bar. Alao was in May 2003 elected into Ondo State House of Assembly where he served meritoriously. Throughout his stay in the House he was the Chairman of the Finance & Appropriation Committee.
Hardly had he got midway of that mandate than the State Governor, Dr Olusegun Agagu in 2005, appointed him as the Ondo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in July 2005. It is on record that Hon. Adeyemi Alao was a key member of the Agagu Administration and served creditably until February 2009 when the administration ended. He was a member of the State Security Council, the Fund Allocation Committee, State Tenders Board, to mention a few.
Hon. Adeyemi Alao was appointed to serve the state again in November 2013 as the 1st Commissioner in Ondo State Law Commission during Dr. Olusegun Mimiko’s second term but had to resign after less than a year in office on personal grounds.
Hon Adeyemi Alao had grown up to imbibe the values of service to humanity as the essence of life. No wonder he is today one of the frontline citizens of Ondo State who thinks about the advancement of the Sunshine State with passion and a fervent belief that the welfare of the people of the state irrespective of their age, sex or religion can be much better than the below-par performance of the conditions.
He is at the moment seeking the votes of Ondo State electorate to enable him serve as the State Governor in the 2016 gubernatorial election on the platform of the only Nigerian Political Party which has care and service for one’s neighbour as its motto: All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The APGA Motto is: BE YOUR BROTHER’S KEEPER. And in tandem with the APGA manifesto, Hon Adeyemi Alao has outlined a six-point impactful plan with the acronym THEMES that will surely make life worth living for the good people of Ondo State and lead the bountifully blessed State from its present sorry economic and managerial deficits.
One can only wish Barrister Adeyemi Alao the best of luck in his determination to make life meaningful for his people to the glory of God.
