The addition of 661 new domain names registered in the month of October, has taken Nigeria’s active domain number (on 3rd level) to 128,481.
According to the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the growth of the .ng domain names is encouraging.
A domain name is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority or control within the Internet. For Nigeria, it is the .ng.
Statistics made available by NiRA showed that in the combination of active domain on 3rd level (128,481) and 2nd level 18,980 (as at November 2019) brings the grand total to 147, 461.
The report further shows 3,156 increase from active domain names in October.
Meanwhile, all NiRA activities seek to create awareness of the Nigerian online identity, while the price charter seeks to progressively reduce the price of the .ng domain name based on the number of active 2nd level .ng domain names.
