Blessing Okoro, a Lagos-based blogger, attracted lots of attention to herself after she reportedly got arrested for repeatedly claiming a “billionaire’s grandiose” apartment was hers.
Okoro had taken to social media on the occasion of her birthday to flaunt the seven-bedroom duplex which, according to her, was built from ground after her husband “threw her out of his house”.
“Eight years ago, my husband threw me out of his one bedroom apartment. Eight years later, I build myself a seven-bedroom duplex. I picked up all the stones he threw at me to build myself,” she had written in the Instagram post that has since been deleted.
“I became too strong and fortified. I became that broken piece that became an expert in mending. Yes, dreams do come true. My name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka. 23rd May 1989 I was born. I’m that blessing you hear about…”
However, what the blogger had intended as an inspirational moment turned a sour tale after the real owner of the luxury apartment got wind of the news and reached out to Okoro, who, according to him, remained “unrepentant and impudent”.
Okoro was alleged to have kept on posting pictures and videos that portrayed her as the real owner of the property until she ran out of luck.
Prior to her purported arrest, videos surfaced on social media showing the blogger pleading on her knees and in handcuffs. She confessed to lying about her ownership of the property as she was being questioned by some unseen men.
Onye Eze, who is said to be the owner of the mansion, can be heard raging in the background of the video.
“I’m very okay, it’s going to die down naturally. it’s just normal stuff. I didn’t want to continue the whole pressure thing. It’s fine. To those sending love or hate, God bless you all. It’s going to fizzle away,” she, however, said in a new video while addressing fans after her release.
While some social media users decried her arrest as humiliating on the premise that Eze went “too far” with his measures, others had contradicting views on the matter.
