Let us forget the fact that Zimbabwe first refused to play the opening match of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations against hosts Egypt. On Friday night, Cairo International Stadium  is where the eyes of millions of African football fans were hooked while watching the opening ceremony which had an amazing display

When it clocked 8 PM Cairo time, the simple, symbolic and breathtaking ceremony that was attended by the Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt kicked off. Among other guests was Gianni Infantino the current FIFA president of the who officially opened this year’s tournament that will see 24 national teams tussle it out for the trophy.

As usual, music brings the other fun side of any ceremony and Femi Kuti of Nigeria, Dobet Gnahoré of Ivory Cost and  Famed Egyptian folk singer Hakim entertained the fans ahead of the opening match between The Pharaohs(Egypt) and The Worriers Zimbabwe that ended 1-0 in favour of Egypt

At 5 pm, Ugandans Cranes will take on Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria to take on Burundi at 8 PM where as Madagascar will play Guinea  at 11PM.
