Sylvia Nduka has joined the list of celebrities who are changing lives by giving their fans opportunity of living a healthy, better life.
Last night, the former Miss Nigeria took to her Instagram to share the photos of an 8-year-old girl whose surgery she funded after doctors found out that the child has an infected kidney.
Writing on her page, Sylvia Nduka, who runs a foundation, said the child, named Fikayo, had been living with a disease that left her stomach bloated. Fikayo’s mum worked as a nanny and so couldn’t afford the child’s medical demands.
“Fikayo has been living with a swollen stomach for the past 6 years and this sickness made her a laughing stock of her school as her classmates call her “The pregnant girl”,” writes Sylvia Nduka.
She added that Fikayo has been “in pain and has also suffered loss of appetite medically referred to as anorexia.”
But things changed when the former beauty queen met the child, took her to meet professionals who identified what the problem was.
“They discovered she had a kidney infection and suggested a Nephrectomy be carried out immediately,” she said, adding, “We took care of her hospital bills and prayed to God to heal her. This whole process took about three months. The surgery was successful.”
Now, Fikayo is healthy. She no longer walks around with a bloated stomach.
