See The 10 Nigerians To Be Honoured By JCI For 2018 Edition

At the 2018 annual edition of ‘JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons Of Nigeria Awards’, ten Nigerians will be honoured for different accomplishments.

This information was disclosed by the Junior Chamber International Nigeria in a statement, declaring that the date for the awards ceremony had been set for August 25, 2018.

The 10 honourees were selected for the different categories of the awards, including Personal Improvement and Accomplishment; Academic Leadership and Accomplishments; Medical Innovations; and Scientific and Technological Development, among others.

A statement by JCI Nigeria read in part, “Notable among the honourees are Oluseun Onigbinde, Co-founder of BudgIT, a civil start-up that has brought more openness and transparency in governance, and Kechi Okwuchi, one of the two survivors of the infamous Sosoliso plane crash, who went on to earn a first class degree in the University of Thomas Houston, Texas.


“Others are Stanley Arinze, Omowunmi Ogunrotimi, Dr Charles Akhimien, Caleb Adebayo, Nasir Yammama, Reginald Aziza, Jacinta Uramah and John Oluwadero.

“While Oluseun Onigbinde emerged top in the Political, Legal and Government Affairs category of the awards programme, Kechi Okwuchi won in the Personal Improvement and Accomplishment category. This announcement comes months after a rigorous and thorough process.”

According to the Chairperson for the awards, Oluwatoyin Atanda, the quality and pedigree of the honourees bear testimony to the initiative.

“The 10 finalists that were shortlisted met all requirements stipulated and are well deserving of the prestigious awards,” Atanda said.

She congratulated the honourees ahead of the awards ceremony, stating that the recognition came because of “their breath-taking innovations, success and leadership skills in their different fields of endeavour.”
