French Government Returns Nigeria’s Stolen Cultural Artifact

The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Denys Gauer, has officially presented to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed, the Nok Terracotta figurative sculpture that was intercepted in France while in transit from Togo to the USA.
The Nok culture appeared in Nigeria around 1000 B.C. and later vanished under unknown circumstances around 500 AD. It was intercepted in France as it was being taken to the U.S on Oct. 22nd, 2008.
