Team Hive From University Of Ibadan Wins N1m Professor Awojobi Design Competition

Team Hive of the University of Ibadan, have emerged winners of the 2019 edition of the Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition , claiming a total cash prize of one million naira.

The event competition which was held at the Main Auditorium of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) included Team LET ME SEE (University of Lagos), Team HIVE from (University of Ibadan), Team IGLASS (Amadu Bello University), Team FARMS (FUTA) Team WANTOPRINT (Obafemi Awolowo University) and Team HIVE (University of Ibadan).

The competition, which was instituted in honour of the renown inventor, social critic, and erudite scholar, Prof Ayodele Oluwatuminu Awojobi, is aimed at inspiring ingenuity in the minds of youths, and propelling them to solve various socio-economic challenges the Nigeria is facing using the application of science and technology.

Team Hive’s wining work was their creation of a platform with a solid model & prototype enabling people become accustomed to robotics and the use of AI to solve societal problems.

Team IGLASS won the second runner up was awarded the prize of 700, 000 for their aid-innovative device: An Eye glass which holistically helps the blind in getting most activities done i.e location, internet accessed, reading e.t.c
