They are called high-end for one reason, they’re the best and most expensive in the world. Simple ! This is a quick rundown of the best gadgets we’ve seen so far in the first half of the year 2018. There’s no doubt the second half of the year have kicked off and we’re quite sure of seeing better stuff as a lot of crazy rumors have been spreading around like wildfire. If those rumors are going to be true, then know that we are going to see a whole lot of amazing new devices before the end of the year. I will be giving us a swift review of these gadgets as well as their closest rivals. Note the prices are all Jumia and Amazon prices and are subject to change.
1. Best gaming console 2018: PlayStation 4 Pro 1TB Console for the money.
With over 64 million sold worldwide, it’s hard to doubt the 62 percent market capture and user base of Sony’s PlayStation 4. It’s latest model, the PlayStation 4 Pro 1TB Console brings an updated version of the early version, the PS4 with even more robust power. This high end gaming console brings rich 4K high definition gaming and video streaming. I call it “for the money” because it’s very expensive so be ready. Jumia price: #170,000.
Bitter Rival: Xbox One X 1TB Console
This powerful gaming console is the brainchild of microsoft and a bitter rival to Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro with some of the most powerful tech you’ll find in a gaming system today. It renders native 4K HD graphics at 60 frames per second. Jumia price: Around 200k
2. Best smartphone 2018: Samsung Galaxy S9 +
This Samsung flagship is powered by the most powerful chipset in the land the Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845, 6.2 inch Super AMOLED, 6GB RAM, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and microSD, up to 512 GB. JUMIA PRICE: #285,000
Bitter rival: LG V35 ThinQ
I have revieweed both devices and the LG V35 ThinQ is Just as powerful as the Samsung S9 PLUS, this flagship from South Korean giants LG has all it takes to compete with Samsung S9 plus. I think the only area Samsung wins is in the design, nothing else.
3. Best TV 2018: LG C8PUA 4K HDR SMART OLED (King of Smart TVs)
In our comparison tests this high end LG TV with intelligent voice recognition beat the 2018 Samsung Q9FN flagship TVs, but just barely. And the differences aren’t worth the sky-high price. But for now this LG OLED C8 2018 with AI wears the crown. Couldn’t find it on Jumia. LOL!
Bitter rival: Samsung Q9FN QLED TV
I just hate the fact that it’s too expensive, and has that ugly looking T-Shape stand. Hey, it’s not even OLED, it’s QLED. No doubt it has one of the best displays you can find in the market but if it’s not OLED? Its not OLED
4. Best laptop 2018: DELL XPS 13 (2018) with 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge display.
With facial recognition login and a four-mic array, giving Intel’s chips more headroom to perform even better and adding a 4K screen have all evolved the XPS into an even more formidable flagship laptop. In directly addressing the concerns of users, the Dell XPS 13 laptop is refined further than ever before.
Bitter rival: huawei matebook x pro
This laptop is rated the best Laptop in the World 2018 by THE VERGE because of its immaculate design, thin bezels, big bright displays ant touchscreen features but because of its poor webcam, fan noise, and average battery life, TechCapon is rating it as number 2.
5. Best gaming laptop 2018: ASUS ROG ZEPHYRUS GM50
Asus adds Intel’s powerful new six-core Core i7 CPU to the slim Zephyrus gaming laptop, while fixing some of the original’s design quirks and even lowering the price.

6. Best Virtual Reality Headset: HTC VIVE
The HTC VIVE VR headset itself packs in a pair of OLED displays with 2,160 x 1,200 pixels of total resolution. The Vive also includes not one, but two tracking stations, and a pair of motion controllers with IR tracking. Also important is the 720p camera on the front. It brings you into a whole new world of virtual reality and the HTC VIVE PRO promises to be much better. Amazon price: around $600
Bitter Rival: SONY PlayStation VR headset.
Sony’s PlayStation VR headset has a bit of futuristic flair but the HTC VIVE has a slightly wider viewing angle of 110 degrees horizontally to the PlayStation VR’s 100 degrees which makes it in my opinion better than the SONY VR.
7. Best HIGH-END Smartwatch 2018: Apple watch 3
Jumia price: Around #145,000
Display size – 0.38 inch
Space Gray aluminum case
Built-in GPS and GLONASS
Faster dual-core processor
Bitter rival: Samsung Gear S3 frontier 4G LTE

8. Best HIGH-END headphone 2018: Sennheiser Momentum Wireless (COMPLETE PACKAGE)
With Bluetooth, adaptive noise cancelling, the new Sennheiser MOMENTUM Wireless lets you experience crystal-clear MOMENTUM sound without being attached to a cable. It combines high-resolution sound with a lightweight, puristic design and exclusive materials like stainless steel and real leather.
Bitter rival: Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro.
Sleek design sound stage, particularly for a pair of closed-back headphones, is exceptional. They’re a little bulky, but don’t let that put you off.
