Water Resources Bill Before NASS Very Dangerous For Nigeria – Gov. Emmanuel

Udom Emmanuel

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has described the Water Resources Bill before the National Assembly as a “very dangerous” bill that could bring danger to the country if not well handled.

Emmanuel, who said this in the Government House, Uyo during an interaction with journalists, however said he would not want to speak more on the dangers of the bill now but pointed out that the obnoxious bill does not only affect the South-South region but other states that have water passing through it.

“Is not only affecting South-South states, but Lagos, Ondo and so on, whosoever has water is affected by the Water Resources Bill, placing everything either surface or underneath the water in the hands of the Federal government.

“It is very dangerous bill but I cannot discuss it or other matters associated with this bill now,” the governor said.

He further said that elders and opinion leaders from the South-South and other sections of the country would meet to discuss the matter.

He appealed to journalists in the state to always report the state in positive light, stressing that he was not against criticism but that such must be constructive so as to help him do well for the people of the state.

The governor acknowledged journalists as partners in development, pleading that since his cardinal agenda remained industrialization, positive reportage would attract investors to the state for meaningful investments.

He told the people of the state that his administration in the past three years has not deviated from his five-point agenda of touching the lives of the people of the state positively.

Emmanuel boasted that his administration has touched every sector of the state economy despite dwindling revenues.
