The World Food Day is celebrated yearly every 16th of October in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945.

The theme of the 2018 World Food Day is dedicated to tackling global hunger. In commemoration of the World Food Day, these are the most common food item you’ll find in every Nigerian home.

1.Rice

This is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world’s human population. It’s a food that you find in every home or restaurants. Rice is loved by everyone and it can also be prepared in several ways.

2.Bread

Bread is the most consumed breakfast in every home especially when you have to rush to work. It can be consumed at any time of the day with different kinds of food.

3.Garri

Garri is a grain made from cassava locally or industrially. You would find garri in every home because it’s affordable by everyone and can be prepared in a few minutes. It’s one of the fastest food you can prepare without stress.

4.Yam

Yam is the most common tuber you’ll find in every Nigerian home. It’s one of our favorite meal in this part of Africa. Several meals can be made with yam. It’s also used in many occasions.

5.Beans

Beans are one of the widely consumed proteinous food found in every Nigerian home. You can make several meals from beans and it’s also quite affordable.

6.Noodles

Noodles are one fast food you’ll find in every home. Both kids and adults consume noodles. It’s the perfect meal to consume when one is very hungry.

7.Plantain

Do you think there are people that do not like plantain? You will find plantain in every home. It’s either you want to fry, roast, boil or mash it. It makes a meal more delicious.
