Governor Makinde Approves Appointment Of Olakunleyin As 43rd Olubadan

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has confirmed Oba Owolabi Olakuleyin’s nomination as the 43rd Olubadan of Badanland.

The governor gave his consent via a document dated on June 14, 2024, in accordance with Section 19 (Cap 28) of the Oyo State Law of 2000, as modified.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola, expressed support.

He said that the approval was the culmination of a number of protocols outlined in the state’s existing statutes governing ascent to royal thrones.

According to the statement, the governor welcomed the new Olubadan and hoped that his tenure will bring about more progress in Ibadanland and Oyo State as a whole.

Recall that the Olubadan stool fell empty following the death of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, who reigned for two years until dying at the age of 81 on March 14, 2024.
