Nigerian Physicist Maikama Wins International Record for Longest Mathematics Lesson

Reken R. Maikama, a physicist from Taraba state, is believed to have taught the longest maths lecture ever recorded.

The Nigerian physicist was recognised after the verification procedure of his ACA-Tong effort by the International Book of Records (IBR), which certified Maikama’s feat on Thursday, March 8.

Maikama set a new world record by teaching a 15-hour offline mathematics session in Jalingo, Taraba, on December 21, 2023. The class covered ten topics.

According to the IBR:

“The World Record of “Longest Mathematic lesson’ was achieved by Reken Renos Maikama on 21st December 2023 from Jalingo (Taraba) Nigeria.

“He conducted a 15-hour offline math class in which he covered 10 topics of Mathematics and has set a new world record for the International Book of Records.”

In December 2023, Maikama attempted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the longest math lesson by completing the ACA-Tong.

During the attempt, the 25-year-old took an additional 15-hour offline math lesson that covered the same ten mathematical areas.

After confirming Maikama’s feat, he was told of his formal record-holder status and the upcoming delivery of his certificate.

IBR, in a mail, said: “We feel overjoyed that your application for Application ID: ‘IBR17274’ is successful, and you are now the official record holder of the International Book of Records.”
