According to the Global Firepower assessment, Algeria ranks 22nd in the world with a defense budget of $21.6 billion. Morocco and Egypt follow closely after, ranking 29th and 35th respectively on the worldwide scale.
The index rates 145 countries’ militaries based on a variety of criteria, including the sophistication of their weaponry, finances, geography, and resources.
The research tracked the funds allotted by countries to cover several parts of a standing fighting force, including acquisition, maintenance/support, and pensions. The data shown on the list is current through 2024.
According to the report, Liberia has the world’s smallest military expenditure, at $12,000,000, ranking 144th. The Central African Republic ranks 139th with $41,454,000, while Benin is 138th with $75,000,000.
