Would you like to study in the UK for free? The British government and institutions offer a considerable number of fully financed or tuition-free scholarships to international students desiring to study in the United Kingdom. HowNG has developed a list of ten UK scholarships for international students.
1. UAL/ISH International Postgraduate Scholarships
The UAL/ISH International Postgraduate Scholarship provides full scholarships to students from low-income countries who participate in a full-time taught Masters program at one of UAL’s six colleges. The scholarship offers a £50,000 stipend that includes tuition, lodging in one of UAL’s halls of residence, and maybe living expenses.
2. Chevening Scholarships
Chevening Scholarships, the UK government’s global scholarship programme, are awarded to outstanding scholars from Chevening-eligible countries worldwide. Awards are usually for one-year Master’s degrees. Most Chevening Scholarships include schooling, a fixed-rate living stipend (for one person), economy class return flights to the UK, and additional monies to cover necessary expenses.
3. UCL Global Master’s Scholarships
The UCL Global Masters Scholarship is intended to support and encourage overseas students from low-income households to pursue full-time Master’s degree studies at UCL. The scholarship is worth £15,000 and is good for one year.
4. University of West England Chancellor’s Scholarships
Each year, the University of the West of England in Bristol gives more than £100,000 in scholarships to international students. This includes the Chancellor’s Scholarship, which requires the recipient to perform an internship with the International Development Office or another department. The award covers full tuition fees for a single academic year.
5. Global Wales offers postgraduate scholarships
The Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship scheme offers scholarships of up to £10,000 to international students from Vietnam, India, the United States, and the European Union to pursue full-time master’s degrees in Wales.
6. Warwick Chancellor’s International Scholarships
Each year, the Warwick Graduate School awards up to 42 Chancellor’s International Scholarships to the top PhD candidates. The scholarships are offered to international and EU students studying any subject at Warwick. Scholarships cover the full cost of international tuition as well as a maintenance allowance.
7. Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships
Commonwealth Scholarships are for students from developing Commonwealth countries who want to pursue Master’s degrees in the United Kingdom. The UK Department for International Development (DFID) has funded these scholarships. Each scholarship includes airfare to and from the United Kingdom, tuition and examination fees, personal living expenses, thesis awards (if applicable), and an initial arrival allowance, among other benefits.
8. Developing Solutions Scholarships at the University of Nottingham.
The Developing Solutions Scholarships are intended for international students from Africa, India, or one of the Commonwealth’s developing countries who wish to pursue a Masters Degree at the University of Nottingham while simultaneously contributing to their home country’s development. Every year, 105 scholarships are awarded, with 30 covering the entire tuition charge and 75 covering half of the tuition price.
9. Scottish Saltire Scholarships
The Scottish Government, in collaboration with Scottish universities, is offering Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships to citizens of Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Japan, Pakistan, and the United States who want to study full-time Masters degrees in science, technology, creative industries, healthcare and medical sciences, and renewable and clean energy at Scottish universities. Each award is worth £8000 and will be used to pay tuition for one year of full-time study.
10. Gates Cambridge Scholarships
Gates Cambridge Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students from any countries outside the United Kingdom to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject offered by the University of Cambridge. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the complete expense of attending Cambridge. It also provides additional discretionary funding.
