The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has released its Air Quality Index, which shows Agege and Surulere as the cities with the most dangerous and highly bad air quality in the state.
The score released on Tuesday showed Agege scoring as high as 103% (hazardous), indicating inadequate air quality for people.
Surulere follows with 76.1 percent (extremely unhealthy), Mushin with 47.3 percent (unhealthy), and LAMATA Kosefe with 46% (unhealthy).
The Lagos Port in Apapa comes next with 36.4% (unhealthy), followed by Badagry with 23.8% (unhealthy for sensitive groups), Moloney Street with 20.7% (unhealthy for sensitive groups), Egbeda with 15.7% (moderate), and NIMET Oshodi with 14.1%.
The General Hospital Ikeja is next with 12.6% (moderate), followed by 12.1% (moderate) at LSDPC Est, Lagos Island.
Lekki topped the list of cities with good air quality, at 10.1%, while LASEPA received 7.6% (good air quality).
Speaking on the index, LASEPA stated that, while the air quality in Lagos is not optimal, it is working relentlessly to improve the state’s air quality.
