Ahmed Musa Matches Zinedine Zidane’s International Record

After playing against Guinea-Bissau in Nigeria’s second leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Monday, March 27, captain Ahmed Musa has now gained the most Nigerian international caps.

The Guinea-Bissau Djurtus were defeated 1-0 by the Nigerian national team in Stadium 24 de Setembro.

Musa made his Eagles debut in 2010 and was a member of the team that won the 2013 Nations Cup…. Following Monday’s match, he now has 108 caps, shattering Nigeria’s previous record.

 

With this achievement, he has matched England’s Tim Cahill, Germany’s Jurgen Klinsmann, and France’s midfielder Zinedine Zidane’s 108 national caps while exceeding Patrick Vieira’s 107 international caps for France and Frank Lampard’s 106 caps for the Three Lions of England.

 

The Nigerian forward has 16 goals for the national team since his debut. With four goals at the World Cup, he is also Nigeria’s leading scorer.
