The Kogi Scholarship Board (KSSB) has launched an online site for students at Nigerian higher institutions to register for bursary awards.
According to NAN, the “Ododo Students Support 2024” bursary award is only open to Kogi students currently enrolled in tertiary institutions across the country.
Addressing journalists in Lokoja on Monday, Afolabi Joseph-Raji, the executive chairman of KSSB, urged eligible candidates to register or visit the scholarship board’s website to indicate interest.
He stated that the online pre-qualification registration for the bursary award began on April 13, but was formally unveiled on April 15. He stated that the procedure is likely to conclude on April 30.
While demonstrating the online application process, Joseph-Raji emphasized that registration will remain free, simple, and transparent. He added that thousands of pupils have already applied.
Joseph-Raji stated that the bursary award was part of Ododo’s generosity to alleviate students’ hardships and reduce the load on parents at this critical period of economic difficulty.
“The board is going all out as directed by the governor to ensure accurate data of students to help us plan and create an annual budget for bursary payments,” he said.
Joseph-Raji encouraged students to take advantage of the online pre-qualification process and register.
Also speaking, Wemi Jones, the state’s commissioner of education, stated that the restoration of the bursary award was part of the governor’s commitment to assisting students in attaining their goals.
Jones stated that the scholarship grant was part of the state’s 10-year Education Development Strategic Plan, which was established in 2020 and runs from 2021 to 2030.
