CAF Delists Nigeria, Libya AFCON Qualifier Amidst Ill-Treatment Controversy

The Confederation of African Football has delisted the second leg of the ongoing 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights.

CAF announced a fresh game schedule on its X account on Tuesday, however it does not feature the Libya-Nigeria match.

The game was originally planned for 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Libya, following the first leg on Friday at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The Super Eagles defeated the Mediterranean Knights by a single goal in the final minute of the game.

However, the return leg has sparked controversy after Super Eagles players and officials recounted their over 14-hour agony at the Libyan airport, which led to their return home.
