Shokoya Oluwasegunfunmi, better known as Davolee, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter. He has been a mainstay in the Nigerian music scene since his debut and has a large number of songs to his credit.

Early Life and Education

Davolee was born in Isolo, Lagos state, on May 18, 1995. He was born and raised in Lagos State despite being from Ogun State. He attended primary and secondary school in Lagos state but was unable to continue his education at university due to a lack of funds. He had to forego his education in order to face music head on.

Career

Davolee rose to prominence with his narrative rap song “Festival Bar,” which was accompanied by a music video directed by Moe Musa. Davolee began playing music at a young age, and when financial difficulties made it impossible for him to continue his studies, he decided to pursue music full-time.

Before becoming famous, the teen rapper used to sell pure water on Mushin Street in Lagos.

Davolee, who continues to post freestyles on Instagram, rose to prominence for his wildly popular cover of Desiigner’s “Panda.” His talent was not overlooked, as he drew the attention of YBNL’s leader, Olamide, on November 12, 2016, and was immediately signed to the YBNL Nation record label.

Davolee rose to fame on the streets and in the hearts of music fans after appearing on Olamide’s chart-topping single “Pepper Dem Gang.” Both music experts and critics praised the song, and Davolee’s lyrical skill is unquestionably something to revisit.

Picazo Rhap, Yomi Blaze, and Limerick collaborated with Davolee and released additional songs, including “For the Hood,” featuring Olumix, Kilode, Cirocing Python, and his most recent hit, Juju, in addition to Guns & Roses by the then-YBNL Mafia.

Davolee has received numerous nominations for his outstanding work in the Nigerian music industry, including Artiste of the Year at the Top Naija Music Award and Rookie of the Year at the City People Music Award.

Record Label

Davolee, a gifted musician signed to New Nation Muzik following a split with YBNL, released a song titled “Way” that has received a lot of airplay and positive feedback from music fans, and he is doing a lot of good for himself.

Following that, he released other projects, including “Lock Up” with Zlatan Ibile.

Personal Life

Davolee described himself as a hustler because he was not born with a golden spoon and desired to be happy by creating one for himself and his family. He is not known to be married or in a relationship, but he is said to have a child named Aseyori.

Controversy

Davolee Feud With Olamide

On April 27, 2019, the media reported that Davolee had left YBNL and moved on with his life because he didn’t get along with the label’s YBNL boss, Olamide. According to his Instagram posts, there was speculation that the two performers were at odds.

He then announced the launch of his new record label, “New Nation Muzik,” and stated that he was entering the next phase of his career. It was widely assumed that his departure was motivated by his dissatisfaction with the way he was managed by YBNL.
