Eveen Ali Hasan has been chosen to receive this year’s Blake and Bailey Family Endowed Scholarship. Her application was selected by the AUIS Scholarship Committee from those submitted by students with the highest final cumulative GPA who graduated in each major from January to December 2022.
An active participant in volunteer work, Eveen majored in Business Administration with a double concentration in Accounting and Economics and was valedictorian of her class.
What have you been doing since graduation?
“I was offered a job at Ernst and Young during my last semester at AUIS which was what I was looking forward to as an accounting student. I joined EY right after I graduated and I have been working there since then in the assurance and consultancy services line. AUIS prepared me for this job in every way. All the knowledge and experience I received at AUIS, I am applying now at my work. I will always be grateful and thankful for that experience at AUIS.”
What was your experience like at AUIS?
“My experience at AUIS was very different and unique. For a Yazdi female, and especially after 2014 and the malicious attacks, AUIS was the only place that I felt welcomed and safe. I was never discriminated against. Everyone helped me and supported me to reach my goals. And when I was accomplishing a goal, I was recognized and awarded for that. That did not happen to me in other places; I was not noticed no matter what I was doing.”
“The knowledge and experience I received at AUIS was very different from other places. At AUIS, I interacted with so many different individuals with so many different backgrounds and amazing talents. I learned a lot from each one of them. I did not just succeed in my education, I also developed my skills and learned so many new things that helped me personally and professionally. Now I am using this knowledge and these skills to overcome work and life challenges.”
How do you plan to use this award?
At AUIS, I learned to never stop learning. After my graduation, I knew that this was not the end for my education journey. Right after graduation and joining EY, I started studying and preparing [to become a Certified Public Accountant]. I will use the money that I received from the Blake and Bailey Family Endowed Scholarship towards completing my CPA exams. This certification will help me to have a better and more fruitful career path.”
