Nollywood film fans would concur that “Jagun Jagun,” an epic Netflix original film, received overwhelmingly positive reviews and became one of the most talked-about films of 2023.
In light of that accomplishment, the film’s producer and star, Femi Adebayo, has been hinting to a new, “big” project called “Seven Doors” for the year 2024.
He revealed this on Monday, New Year’s Day, on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, stating that it is one of his major projects that moviegoers should watch out for this year.
The actor also revealed a sneak peek at the movie’s narrative, stating that it is currently in post-production after wrapping up filming.
“In my coming movie, a Yoruba married an Igbo woman in the movie and the Igbo tribe supported the husband who is a core Yoruba king, they supported their traditions and everything.
“That is one of the things you should look out for this year, the title of the film is ‘Seven Doors’, it’s going to be big. Done with filming, I am at the post,” Adebayo said.
Adebayo further disclosed that he will be filming “Jagun Jagun’s” second season, which will provide a platform for upcoming actors to display their skills.
In recent Nollywood films, there has been a noticeable merging of indigenous language actors with their English counterparts. The actor expressed his excitement at this deliberate approach by the industry’s creators.
“It has really helped the industry and for me, it’s one of the joy that I’m seeing in the industry presently. I am so happy about the harmonization and synergy. We are even coming together to co-produce to engage the Yorubas, even the Hausas, so most of us now when we write scripts we must infuse other tribes,” he said.
For movie producers to do more for the industry, Adebayo said they need a more conducive environment, lamenting the lack of security in movie locations among other concerns.
