Francisca Ordega (born October 19, 1993) is a Nigerian professional female footballer who currently plays for CSKA Moscow in the Russian Women’s Football Championship. She also plays for the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s women’s national football team. She was once nominated for best African female footballer.
Early Life
Francisca Ordega was born on the 19th of October, 1993, in Gboko, Benue State, which falls among the states in the Northern part of Nigeria.
Career
Professional Career
Ordega began her career at the youth level for Bayelsa Queens before being promoted to the professional side and competing in the Nigerian Women’s Championship in 2008.
Francisca Ordega joined Rivers Angels, one of the top teams in the Nigerian Women’s Championship, in 2011. In 2012, she moved from Nigeria to Russia to play for Rossiyanka in the Russian Women’s Football Championship. In November 2012, Ordega and Rossiyanka announced their mutual separation.
In 2013, Francisca Ordega signed a contract with Pite IF of the Swedish Damallsvenskan. She scored her first goal in a tie-breaking attempt against Vittsjö GIK on May 26, 2013. Between 2013 and 2015, she appeared in 34 games and scored four goals for Sweden.
Levante and Ordega In April 2021, UD agreed to a contract extension until 2023 in order to support Levante UD’s bid to become the club’s first team to play in the Champions League. Ordega made her professional debut on May 22, 2021, in a 3-2 victory over Madrid CFF. She came on as a substitute in the 67th minute.
International Career
Ordega was a member of the Nigerian women’s national football team at every level. She represented the under-17s in the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the under-20s in the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She competed at the senior level in the FIFA Women’s World Cup competitions in 2011, 2015, and 2019.
She made her World Cup debut on June 8, 2015, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, by scoring Nigeria’s equalizing goal against Sweden. The thrilling contest in Group D’s first match ended 3-3. She was also a member of Nigeria’s winning teams at the African Women’s Championship in 2010 and 2014.
She also competed for Nigeria in the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana. During the competition, she scored twice, assisted twice, and was named the team’s player of the match against South Africa. In February, she was a member of the Super Falcons team that became the first African team to win the 2021 Turkish Women’s Cup in Antalya, Turkey.
