According to the statement, the letters of appointment were issued by Teslim Igbalaye, the secretary to the state government.

Igbalaye urged the principal officers to justify their appointments by demonstrating professionalism and integrity.

The newly appointed VC is an accounting and finance professor who is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

He previously served as the dean of the administration faculty at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). He also served as the chairman of the University of Ilesa’s review committee.

Adeleke formed the committee to address all outstanding issues for the university’s eventual launch.

Gboyega Oyetola, the state’s immediate-past governor, established the University of Ilesa on March 31, 2022.

Oyetola promoted the college to varsity status after it was known as the College of Education, Ilesa.
