Early Life & Education
Laide Bakare was born on October 7, 1980, in Ibadan, Oyo State, to Alhaja and Alhaji Bakare. She is also from Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Laide Bakare was born into a predominantly female family and was fortunate to have one son. Her family is known as the Bakares because her father’s street was named after him.
She attended primary and secondary school in Lagos before attending the University of Lagos, where she earned a degree in History and Strategic Studies. She also has a diploma in Theatre Studies from Oyo State’s University of Ibadan.
Career
Her career began while she was still in her second year of college. She was able to combine filmmaking and schooling thanks to her father, who owns a hotel where film professionals stay when they visit for filming. Olaide’s first significant role in a drama or motion picture was in Adeyemi, a Muka Ray-produced film released in 1999. Her talent also helped her land more business roles. Laide Bakare has also produced a few of her own independent films, including 2005’s MI o fi owo ra Ola and others.
She has a passionate love for the arts, which inspired her to start her own music company, Simline Records. She stated that the label was created as a result of her passion for the arts and music, primarily to assist emerging artists.
Personal Life
Laide Bakare is married to Alhaji Mutairu Atanda Orilowo, who is currently residing in the United States of America. The couple has two sons from their marriage. She also had a daughter from her previous relationship with Olumide Okufulure, which did not end in marriage and gave birth to Simi.
Laide and her children became American citizens as a result of her marriage to Alhaji Mutairu Atanda Orilowo. She also intends to open a travel agency, a foundation, and a film academy in the future.
