Mohbad: ‘I Don’t Want To Lose My Son’ – Primeboy’s Mum Cries Out

The mother of Ibrahim ‘Primeboy’ Owodunni has appealed for assistance following her son’s detention by the Lagos police in connection with the investigation into Mohbad’s death.

Mohbad died on September 12 and was buried the next day.

The circumstances of his death have continued to spark debate on social media.

Several suspects are currently in police custody, including Feyisola Ogedengbe, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Primeboy, as part of the inquiry into Mohbad’s killing.

On Monday, Primeboy’s mother implored Iyabo Ojo, the actress, journalist Oriyomi Hamzat, and Nigerians in general to “intervene,” saying, “I do not want to lose my son.”

She also said she raised Primeboy “to be of good behaviour”, arguing that “I do not have a child that can perpetrate such an act”.

“My fellow Nigerians. My patriot Nigerians I am addressing this to you. I came out because of you. I beg you in God’s name have mercy on me. Iyabo Ojo, as you are going and coming, you will not experience evil. I know you always say the truth. It is me, Iya Prime talking. Primeboy’s mother is the one speaking,” she said.

“Please I do not have anything. I do not have nobody. I am from a humble background. That is why I taught my children how to be content with whatever they have. All mothers please stand for me. He is my first child. Do not allow me to lose him. Do not let them use my son to settle war. Hamzat, please help me. Your children will not go missing. I do not have a child that can perpetrate such an act. Ibrahim and I were also saddened by Mohbad’s death too.

“I sell rice and I do not step out of my boundary. I sell my stuff outside of my house. My children cannot do such a thing. There is no killer in my lineage.

“That Mohbad you talking about, he once lived with me and my children. Come and ask in our area. We stayed 24 hours together. Mohbad paid for where I am selling outside. They have used Mohbad to sadden me. Do not allow them to take away Ibrahim from me.”

On Friday, the Lagos police named Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who injected Mohbad as the “prime suspect” in the singer’s death.

Thousands of Nigerians have demanded justice for Mohbad in nationwide protests.

On September 21, the police exhumed Mohbad’s corpse for autopsy and are awaiting the results.
