Rafiu Salami, head coach of the Nigeria Men’s Handball Senior Team, has named his final 16-man roster for the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Cairo, Egypt.
Egypt will host the 26th African Men’s Handball Championships from January 17–27, 2024.
Three goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders, and eight strikers make up the list.
Goalkeeper Michael Agbaji, who plays for the Benin Republic, gets chosen along with Confluence Stars’ Obinna Okwor and Niger United’s Abass Muhammad. Adidja’s Hakeem Salami and Ibrahim Dikko were chosen to be the center backs.
Eight players will be making their debut for the senior national team includes; Abass Muhammed, Ibrahim Dikko, Joseph Gbawuan, Daniel Bello, John Shagari, Hakeem Salami, Andrew Ojo and Osamwonyi Olaye.
The Golden Arrows will kick off their quest and will take on Angola on Wednesday, 17th January in their first match of Group D, before further clashes with Tunisia on January 19th and Kenya on January 21.
