Nigerian Singer, Terry G Retires from Music

Terry G, the Nigerian singer, says he is retiring from music.

In a post via Instagram on Saturday, the singer revealed that he is quitting music “for personal reasons”.

The musician thanked his fans for the career-long support he has received.

“I have to say a big thank you to my fans for staying true with me all these years back to back,” Terry G said.

“I really appreciate you all. Thank you so much for the love; I really appreciate it.

“I am about to make a big announcement. I know it is going to hurt a lot of people, but I have my personal reasons.

“I am quitting music. I no dey do again. I am done and I really appreciate you guys for showing me so much love.”

Born Gabriel Oche Amanyi, Terry G is widely known for his eccentric dress sense and controversial lyrics.

His other monikers are “Akpako Master”, “Ginjah Master”, “Hitman, G.zuz”, and “Terry G.zus”.

Terry G has received several awards for his talent.

The musician got into an internet spat with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023 over the party’s purported failure to compensate him for his campaign appearances.

He said in 2020 that he was unable to secure sponsorship deals as a result of a bad reputation.

“I looked like the baddest guy in Nigeria. Endorsement time came, nobody endorsed me. Nobody did anything all that time when Terry G was hot,” he had said.
