Patience Ozokwor was born in Ngwo, Enugu State, on March 25, 1958. Enugu state is located in Nigeria’s southeastern region.
She went to Abimbola Gibson Memorial School in Lagos, Nigeria, before being accepted into Methodist Girls School Yaba. She quickly relocated to Enugu with her family for safety. This was primarily owing to the Nigerian-Bafran civil war.
Patience Ozokwor attended Afikpo Teachers’ Training College after the war. She was later enrolled to the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu. She studied Fine and Applied Arts there. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons she is a fashion designer.
Career
Patience Ozokwor began performing at a young age, though not as a Nollywood actor. She began reading literature at a young age. Her uncle primarily bought and forced her to read novels, even when she couldn’t understand what she was reading.
This did not end there. Ozokwor later became a member of the Takwa Bay Children’s Club. She got more exposure by mixing and socializing with other children. This also exposed her to the beautiful world of literature, which molded her acting abilities.
Patience Ozokwor was an announcer with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria in Enugu. She had previously taught for four years.
Patience, being a go-getter, strategized when the FRCN went down. She worked as a petty dealer. She was active in radio theaters and other media entertainment activities while at FRCN.
Patience met Chika Okpala, who assigned her a role in a commercial while she was trading. In fact, she performed so well that Chika was taken aback. Simply put, she was not auditioned, and this is sufficient reason.
Patience was featured in another soap drama, “someone cares.” Later, she landed her first film role, catapulting her into the spotlight. Her expertise in playing her role in “Someone Cares” earned her this honor.
She rose to prominence after appearing in the 1999 film “Authority.” This was, of course, her second film.
