Pete Edochie, the legendary Nigerian actor, has expressed his delight at receiving two honorary doctorate degrees from Togo’s iSTM University.
A Doctorate of Literature in Cultural Studies/Creative Writing and a Doctorate of Arts in Excellence, Leadership, and Development are among the honors.
On Tuesday, the 76-year-old Nollywood legend took to Instagram to share photos from what he described as a “rare occasion” beside the doctoral diplomas.
In the photos, the actor was seen dressed in ceremonious attire before his conferment.
In the accompanying caption, Edochie expressed gratitude for the honorary degrees.
He added that it was a “privileged lifetime blessing” to have his family and loved ones by his side during the ceremony.
“Conferred on me, by iSTM University, the great Honour of, Doctorate of Arts in Excellence; Leadership and Development,” he wrote.
“Was a privileged life-time blessing to be surrounded by family and loved ones while witnessing such a rare occasion. God Bless you all. Chief Dr Pete Edochie (M.O.N).”
Edochie has been in almost 200 films and is best known for his parts in classics such as “Things Fall Apart” and “Living with Death.”
He has been dubbed the “Lion of Nollywood” and is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential and acclaimed performers.
He has also garnered numerous prizes and accolades for his exceptional performances and craft.
