These 3 Federal Lawmakers Died Weeks Apart

In recent weeks, the Nigerian House of Representatives has seen some unexpected catastrophes, including the deaths of three lawmakers.

The nation mourns the loss of these guys while also wondering what is causing the incessant deaths in the local and national legislative bodies.

These consecutive deaths have forced Nigerians to contemplate, leaving unsolved issues. Here are the circumstances surrounding their unexpected exits.

1. Ekene Adams

The most recent tragedy came when Ekene Adams, 39, died abruptly. Adams had a successful career in sports management before entering politics, managing major football clubs such as Kada City FC and Remo Stars.

Despite his newbie status to the House, his athletic background gained him the role of Chairman of the House Committee on Sports.

Adams’ death was particularly tragic given his youthful age and the energy he brought to his work. His legislative goals reflected his enthusiasm for sports and youth development, and his absence will be felt not only in his Chikun/Kajuru area, but throughout the sports community.

2. Olaide Adewale Akinremi

Olaide Adewale Akinremi, affectionately known as ‘Jagaban’, died at the age of 51. Akinremi, who represented Ibadan North in the House, was a well-known figure for his dedication to his constituency as well as his enthusiasm for scientific advancement.

As head of the House Committee on Science and Research, he advocated for programs that aimed to boost economic growth and social welfare through scientific innovation.

3. Isa Dogonyaro

Just weeks before Akinremi died, the House lost another member, Isa Dogonyaro, who represented Jigawa State’s Babura/Garki seat. Dogonyaro died after a brief illness, the details of which were not well known.
