Tonte Ibraye is a Nigerian politician, philanthropist, Niger Delta Youth Leader, and Ijaw Youth Council Chieftain. He has numerous years of experience working in civil society and non-profit organizations. He is the African Democratic Congress’s gubernatorial contender in Rivers State.

Tonte Ibraye has also served as National Coordinator for the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, Director of the Ijaw Youth Consultative Forum, Member of the Advisory Board of the West African Academy of Public Health, and other non-governmental and international organizations.

 

Political Career

Tonte Ibraye, vice chairman of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Abuja chapter, has been chosen as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Rivers State governor in the 2023 general elections. In a Port Harcourt primary election, the supporter of maternal, neonatal, and child health received 187 votes (out of a possible 188) to defeat Dr. Warmeth Wright and Joyce Barida.

After being declared the winner of the primary election, he named Tonto Dikeh as his running mate, sparking numerous online controversies.
