Dakore Egbuson Akande

Dakore Egbuson-Akande is a Nigerian actress who was born Dakore Omobola Egbuson. She is an Amnesty International, Amstel Malta, and Oxfam America ambassador. She is the older sister of well-known actor Timini Egbuson.

Early Life and Education

Dakore was born in Lagos on October 14, 1978, but is originally from Bayelsa State. She is her parents’ first child. She attended Federal Government Girls’ College in Lagos and Bauchi State, as well as Corona School in Lagos. She was a mass communication student at the University of Lagos, but she had to drop out due to the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ incessant strikes. She also enrolled in a 6-month photography class taught by Dan Baba.

Career

She sought a career in the music industry after graduating from university. In 1999, she began forging a career as an actress. She had roles in several films, however due to the Nollywood actors’ strike, those films were never released. She decided to relocate to London in order to try her luck elsewhere. She met a promoter there who offered her a gig at London’s renowned Royal Festival Hall. Fortunately, the strike in Nigeria ended, and the public was able to see her films. They were wealthy. She was then inundated with offers from Nigerian producers. She had no choice but to return to Nigeria to pursue a career in Nollywood.

After she got married, the actress took a 5-year break. In 2012, Dakore Egbuson-Akande came back to show her best again. The following year, she starred in the drama titled “Journey to Self.”

Dakore was included as a key feature in the Visual Collaborative electronic catalogue in September 2019, under a subject matter called “Vivencias,” which translates to “Experiences” in Spanish. She was questioned alongside Kelli Ali, Adelaide Damoah, and Desdemona, along with 30 other international competitors. Dakore’s interview on the same Visual Collaborative platform was republished in the TwentyEightyFour series in May 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside interviews with the French musical group Les Nubians, the Japanese composer Rika Muranaka, and the Nigerian comedian Chigul.

She has worked with celebrities such as Ireti Doyle, Tope Tedela, Omoni Oboli, Ramsey Noah, Jim Iyke, Desmond Elliot, Chidi Mokeme, Ken Erics, and Kenneth Okonkwo, among others, in films and television shows. She appeared in Fifty, a 2015 Nigerian love comedy, as well as Lunch Time Heroes, a 2015 Nigerian family comedy.

Personal Life

Olumide Akande and Dakore Egbuson have married happily. He is the eldest child of multibillionaire Chief Harry Ayoade Akande. In 2011, the couple married. Damilola Akande (2011) and Dasola Akande (2012) are the couple’s two beautiful children.
